Redesigned in 2013, the course features a refreshed layout with five par 3s and four par 5s. As part of the redesign, two of the more challenging front nine holes were replaced with scenic and exciting new additions later in the round. Several existing holes were also reshaped, with improved bunkers and water features adding variety and challenge to your game.

18 HOLE COURSE AT PIPERDAM
A par 71 measuring anywhere from 6300 to 5100 yards depending on your choice of tees the New Course can provide either a stern or more sympathetic test for golfers of all levels of ability.
Set in the most beautiful of locations, and boasting some breath-taking views, the course has been sculpted from the gentle slopes around our 40 acre fishing loch.
The New Course at Piperdam is a wonderful and unique test of Scottish parkland golf with a par of 71 and can play anything from a challenging 6305 yards off the back tees to a more sympathetic length off our other tees. Club medals and other competitions are typically played from the white tees and the blues provide a most enjoyable and fun game for a relaxed days golf. This is not set in stone though like at many clubs and visitors are always welcome to play from which ever tees they might prefer.
The key to good scoring here is to play the five par 3’s well – they provide a tricky test with water in play on a couple of occasions. None of them have any great length here but you need to be careful with your club selection and play for the heart of the greens, par is a good score on any of them. The par 5’s are an excellent opportunity to birdie if you play them with just the right balance of agression and caution. They can be a great place to pick up a few shots but all have the potential to punish the over confident golfer. The par fours provide good variety and mixture of yardages from the longer holes, 6th & 7th, to the shorter holes such as the drivable 16th.
All in all if you focus on keeping your ball in the fairway off the tee rather than on maximum distance then you’ll put yourself in a great position to score well. We all know that scoring comes down to holing putts and our greens have an enviable reputation for quality and pace so aim for the high side of the hole as the can break a little more than you think.

GC Golf – Gareth Couzens
Are you a budding golfer with heart and passion but somewhat lacking in skills? Look no further than golf lessons on our 9-hole course. Provided by our associate Level 3, PGA Professional, Gareth Couzens, your visit to Piperdam can be so much more than hot tubs and swimming pools. With fixed availability every Tuesday and Saturday mornings and ad-hoc availability throughout the rest of the week, you will have all the flexibility to become a competent golfer before you know it!

GARETH COUZENS BIO
Gareth Couzens is an experienced Golf Instructor with over twenty years experience. In running his golf academy, GC GOLF, at both Piperdam and Middlebank Golf, he relishes the challenge that teaching golf brings and in continuing to expand his knowledge he ensures that he delivers coaching of the highest quality.
This knowledge and enthusiasm alongside his approachable nature has ensured his success at nurturing golfers of all ages and abilities.
Dedicated to the development of junior golf he coordinates an extensive Junior Development Programme which now attracts over 90 children each week for 17 weeks of the year.
Alongside a busy individual lesson diary he continues to develop junior golf programmes as well as ladies, seniors and corporate-based groups from the surrounding Dundee and Perthshire areas.
Gareth moved north of the border from Wynyard Golf Club in Teesside in 2007.
Since qualifying as a PGA Professional he has accrued a wide range of experience in working in the golf industry from playing full-time to being Head Assistant Professional and Junior Liaison Officer at a busy corporate based golf where he worked in conjunction with the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.
Over the last fifteen years in Tayside he has developed a comprehensive knowledge of golf techniques and built a substantial and varied client base helping many golfers achieve their goals.
